EMT Course Information
Location: 210 N Higgins Ave in downtown Missoula, Montana
Cost: $899 which includes NREMT/State Skills certification exam and American Heart Association BLS CPR card
Additional Fees (not paid to Fight-or-Flight):
- A textbook (ISBN: 9781284080179) is needed for the start of class. The book is about $50 if purchased used.
- When the class is over, the certification exam registration fee for the cognitive (computer-based) portion of certification exams is $104 for National Registry (NREMT) certification.
- The application for an EMT license varies by state, but is currently $50 in Montana.
Time Commitment: The online component of the course (first 8 weeks) can be completed at your own time, but the material is best digested by spending approximately 3 hours every single day, for a total of approximately 20 hours each week. Some students spend more time, and some spend less. MOST of our students are able to juggle the course alongside a full-time job or a full-time college course load, despite not having previous medical knowledge/experience, but it does require serious commitment. Students also have the OPTION to attend weekly hands-on skill practice in Missoula, and weekly Zoom Office Hours. The online work consists of pre-recorded videos (approximately 6 - 8 hours each week), a workbook that goes along with the videos, 3 quizzes each week, quiz corrections for missed questions, and approximately 150 - 200 pages of reading each week. All students are required to meet in Missoula, Montana for the hands-on portion the last 5 days of the course, from 9am until at least 5pm each day (exact dates listed below for each course).

- Students are required to be in Missoula for all day in-person skills training and testing April 14 - 18. Optional "bonus" day on April 13.
- March 16, 2026 - May 16, 2026
- Students are required to be in Missoula for all day in-person skills training and testing May 12 - 16. Optional "bonus" day on May 11.
- April 13, 2026 - June 13, 2026
- Students are required to be in Missoula for all day in-person skills training and testing June 9 - 13. Optional "bonus" day on June 8.
- May 18, 2026 - July 18, 2026
- Students are required to be in Missoula for all day in-person skills training and testing July 14 - 18. Optional "bonus" day on July 13.
- June 22, 2026 - August 22, 2026
- Students are required to be in Missoula for all day in-person skills training and testing August 18 - 22. Optional "bonus" day on August 17.
- TBD: Please inquire about the possibility of upcoming in-person classes. Over the past several years, we have seen online students repeatedly achieve better results than in-person students (better completion rates; higher pass rates on both the written AND skills exams). This was very surprising to us, but for now, we are taking a hiatus from in-person classes to focus on our online (hybrid) courses. To accommodate students who prefer in-person learning, we offer OPTIONAL weekly in-person, hands-on skills practices (typically Tuesday nights at 7pm, but exact days/times will vary) for ALL classes!
